"2046"Wall lamp

2046 is a neon wall lamp aiming to add vibrant colour and instil a mood in darker environments. Perfect wall lamp for a bar, restaurant or long hallway. I had a very clear and direct idea to capture in this last instalment of the Hong Kong's Red series, Inspired by the reflections of the Hong Kong skyscrapers on the windows of each other.

In order to be able to test and reiterate the reflective effect instantly, I started "sketching" in Solidworks directly, which allowed me to easily explore different potential materials, angles and shapes.

Learning About Neon Sign
Approached and paid a visit to neon master @PowahNeonSign to better understand the features and limitations of neon lights in order to improve the design.

Prototype making
My research showed that aluminium sheets created the best reflective effect among all the materials tested.
However, the light from the neon light was too strong and the size of the aluminium base was not big enough to create the reflective effect I was looking for.
The design of the aluminium base was later refined.
